Frequently Asked Questions

What is a notarized signature?

A notarized signature is when a signer signs a document, and the notary verifies and signs it as well.

  • Example: If one person signs the document and the notary notarizes it, that counts as one notarized signature.
  • If two people sign the same document and the notary notarizes it, that counts as two notarized signatures.

What forms of identification are accepted?

Acceptable IDs must be current (not expired):

  • Driver’s License
  • State Identification Card
  • Passport

If none are available, you may use two credible witnesses who personally know you, are not named in the document, and each presents a valid ID. Witnesses must be present at the appointment.

Does my name on my ID need to match my document?

Yes. The name on your ID must match the name on the document. Documents cannot include more names than what your ID shows.

What if I need help choosing or filling out my documents?

Notaries cannot select or complete documents for you. If you need assistance determining which documents to use or how to complete them, please consult:

  • An attorney, lawyer, paralegal, or legal document assistant.
  • Free resources: Sacramento Law Library
  • Paid resources: LegalZoom, LawDepot

What payment methods do you accept?

  • Cash
  • Debit/Credit Card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover) (4% fee charged for using a debit or credit card)
  • Zelle – Hernandez 760-217-3369
  • Venmo – @NotaryChristinaH / 760-217-3369
  • Apple Pay – 760-217-3369
❌ Personal checks are not accepted.

Can I use a translator during the signing?

No. California Notary Public law requires that the signer communicate directly with the notary. If a bilingual notary is required, this must be arranged in advance. Translators cannot be used.

Can appointments be canceled or rescheduled?

Yes! We understand that plans change.

  • Cancellations with more than 2 hours’ notice → Full refund.
  • Cancellations with less than 2 hours’ notice → $20 cancellation fee.

What if the notary travels to me, but the signing can’t be completed?

If our notary arrives but the service cannot be completed, a mobile/travel fee of $20 will still apply for appointments in Victorville, Hesperia, and Apple Valley. For other cities, the travel fee may be higher depending on the distance. Any unused signature fees paid in advance will be refunded, minus the applicable travel fee.

Situations When Notary Services Cannot Be Provided

To comply with California law and ensure the validity of your documents, we cannot complete notarizations under the following circumstances:

  • Valid Identification Missing – The signer must provide acceptable, non-expired ID or two credible witnesses as described above.
  • Missing Documents – The signer must bring the original documents to be notarized.
  • Signer Not Present – The individual whose signature is being notarized must attend the appointment.
  • Signer Awareness – If the signer is incoherent, unaware, or unable to clearly understand the documents being signed, notarization cannot proceed.
  • Communication Limitations – The signer must communicate directly with the notary. Translators are not permitted under California law.
  • Health & Safety – If the signer or anyone present is ill with COVID-19, flu, or another contagious illness, the appointment must be rescheduled. Please disclose this before booking.
  • Legal Advice Restrictions – Our notaries are not attorneys and cannot provide legal advice about your documents.

✅ Thank you for taking the time to review our policies. By preparing ahead of time, you’ll help us provide efficient, professional, and convenient notary services.
